Creating Your Account

To begin, simply sign up with your first name, email, and a strong password. We will send a confirmation link to your email. Click this link to verify your account and log in for the first time.

Installing the Browser Extension

The best way to use Startikka is with our browser extension, which sets your dashboard as your “New Tab” page. This extension's only purpose is to redirect the new tab or startup page to your Startikka dashboard URL.

The Dashboard

The Main View

Your dashboard is your central hub for organizing links. It's designed with a grid-based layout where you can add, move, and resize different elements. The layout is responsive but is best optimized for desktop or laptop browsers. Each dashboard has a sidebar on the left with icons for settings and your user profile.

Device-Specific Layouts (Pro Feature)

You can create up to three dashboards as a Pro user. The best feature is the ability to set a different default dashboard for up to three independent devices. For example, you can have one layout for your desktop and a different, mobile-friendly layout for your phone, which will automatically load when you access Startikka on that device.

Changing Your Background (Pro Feature)

Only Pro users can customize their dashboard backgrounds. Free Users only have daily updating slideshow backgrounds. You can customize the background of each dashboard with a single image or a slideshow. When using a slideshow, a beautiful new image will be displayed each day. We display the photographer's credit and a link to Unsplash for all images.

Links & Categories

Creating Categories

Categories, or “CatCards,” are how you organize your links. Click the “Add Category” button to create a new card on your dashboard. Free users can have up to 4 categories on their single dashboard, while Pro users can have up to 12 categories per dashboard.

Adding & Managing Links

Inside each category, click the “+” button to add a new link. Simply provide a name and a URL. Startikka will automatically fetch the website's icon for you. Right-click any link to open a context menu to edit, remove, or copy and paste it into another category.

Editing Your Layout

You can enter “Edit Layout” mode to fully customize your dashboard. In this mode, you can resize and move both your category cards and widgets to create a personalized grid layout.

Widgets (Pro Feature)

Available Widgets

Every dashboard comes with a basic search bar, a clock, and a weather widget. Pro users can add more widgets from the “Widget Drawer” in the sidebar. Currently available widgets include:

Search Functionality

The built-in search bar allows you to search using your preferred search engine. You can change the default search provider from “Google,” “Bing,” “DuckDuckGo,” or “Brave” at any time. Your selection is saved locally in your browser.

Weather Widget

The weather widget shows the current weather for your specified location. You can configure your city, region, and country, as well as the temperature unit, via its settings. This information is saved locally in your browser and is not collected by us.

Settings

The settings modal is your control center, accessible via the gear icon in the sidebar. It has four tabs:

  • Profile: Change your first name and email.
  • Dashboards (Pro Feature): Create, rename, or delete your dashboards. You can also select a primary dashboard and manage backgrounds here. Free users cannot create or delete dashboards.
  • Pro Membership: Upgrade to lifetime Pro membership or view your membership details. Pro users can view their transaction details here.
  • Account: Change your password or permanently delete your account and all associated data. You can also log out from all devices simultaneously.

The Pro Plan

Upgrading to Startikka Pro unlocks several powerful features:

  • Multiple Dashboards (up to 3): Create separate dashboards for different contexts, like “Work” and “Personal.”
  • More Categories (up to 12): Greatly expand your organization capabilities.
  • Device-Specific Defaults: Set a different default dashboard for each of your devices via a cookie.
  • Premium Widgets: Access to advanced widgets like the notes, crypto, and zen quote widgets.

Privacy & Security

Privacy is the core of Startikka. We do not track your activity, analyze your links, or sell your data. Your dashboard content, including your links and notes, is for your eyes only. All your data is protected by Supabase's robust security measures. You can find more details in our separate Privacy Policy.
