Getting Started
Creating Your Account
To begin, simply sign up with your first name, email, and a strong password. We will send a confirmation link to your email. Click this link to verify your account and log in for the first time.
Installing the Browser Extension
The best way to use Startikka is with our browser extension, which sets your dashboard as your “New Tab” page. You can also manually set your dashboard page as your browser's “Startup Page” in your browser settings.
The Dashboard
The Main View
Your dashboard is your central hub. It contains default widgets like the Clock, Weather, and a Search Bar. The main area is for your link categories.
Changing Your Background
In the settings, you can customize the background for each of your dashboards. You can either select a static, high-resolution image from categories powered by Unsplash, or you can enable the “Daily Slideshow” to see a beautiful new image from your chosen category every day.
Links & Categories
Creating Categories
Categories, or “CatCards,” are how you organize your links. Click the “Add Category” button to create a new card. Free users can have up to 4 categories, while Pro users can have up to 12 per dashboard.
Adding & Managing Links
Inside each category, click the “+” button to add a new link. Simply provide a name and a URL, and Startikka will automatically fetch the website's icon. You can right-click any link to open a context menu to edit or delete it.
Drag & Drop
You can fully organize your dashboard with drag-and-drop. Drag a category card by its title to reorder it. Drag a link by its small handle to reorder it within a category, or drop it onto another category to move it.
Settings
The settings modal is your control center, accessible via the gear icon in the sidebar. It has four tabs:
- Profile: Change your name, email.
- Dashboards: Create, rename, or delete your dashboards. You can also set a “Primary” dashboard and manage backgrounds here.
- Subscription: Upgrade to the Pro plan or manage your existing subscription through our payment partner, PayHere.
- Account: Change your password or Permanently delete your account and all associated data.
The Pro Plan
Upgrading to Startikka Pro unlocks several powerful features:
- Multiple Dashboards (up to 3): Create separate dashboards for different contexts, like “Work” and “Personal.”
- More Categories (up to 12): Greatly expand your organization capabilities.
- Device-Specific Defaults: Set a different default dashboard for each of your devices via a cookie, perfect for separating your home and work setups.
- Premium Widgets: Access to advanced widgets like the music player.
Privacy & Security
Privacy is the core of Startikka. Your dashboard content is for your eyes only. We never track your activity, analyze your links, or sell your data. All your data is protected by Supabase's robust security and your own Row Level Security policies.
